CIVIL LIST. (Before Dr. A. M'Artluir, S.M.) CLAIM MADE FOR SUM OP =£100. In the Magistrate's Court yesterday Peter Crawford, ivliarf labourer, Wellington. sued the Union Steam Ship Company, of Now Zealand, Ltd., for iEIOO, as damages received by him through a barrel falling from a sling and striking him whilo he was assisting to unload tlio steamer Mokoia. A sum of .£lO was claimeJ for medical expenses, JC4O for loss of earnings, and JGSO as general damages. Mr. D. M. rindlay appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. T. M. Wilford for the defendant company. The case was not concluded when the Court arose for the day. QUESTION. OP GUARANTEE. James Speight and Co., Ltd., T. and W. Young, and the Phoenix Aerated Water Co., Ltd., proceeded agninst William Branigan, builder, of Hamilton, claiming .£lO2 12s. 7d., which plaintiffs alleged was payable by defendant under a guarantee of certain liabilities of Ethel Emily Howell and Frances Elizabeth Bryan, both of Taita, publicans. Mr. T. Young appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr. J. J. M'Grath for the defendant. Decision was reserved. UNDEFENDED CASES. Alfred William Barber, dyer, Wellington, sued John Murphy, ironfounder, Woilington, for .£4O as damages arising out of a collision between a motor-ear (driven by defendant) and a motor-cycle (in which' plaintiff and his wife were seated). ,£lO of the claim was for depreciation to the motor-cycle, ,£ls for injuries and shock to plaintiff and his wife, and J!ls for loss caused through the cycle being out of use. Mr. E. J. Fitzgibbon appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. D. M. Findlay for the defendant. Tho Court reserved its decision. POLICE BUSINESS. (Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) For insobriety Thomas Bluo was nnod 10s., George- Petersen was ordered to pay <E1 Is. medical expenses, Teenie Rogers fined 10s., Donald M'Leau fined 10s., and Patrick Crowley 10s. James M'Kinlay was fined J!5, in default ono month's imprisonment, for having come from Sydney to Wellington by tho Moeraki as a stowaway.
