May 15, 9.55 a.m.) Melbourne, May 15. ■ The owners, of the Canonbar Station have purchased a 'stud ram from tho Boonokc merino stud, Conargo. New South Wales, for ICOO guineas. ' This is equal to the Australian record. A cow belonging to. Mr. K. Kopp, of Peak Rills, xNew South Wales, is .reported to havo produced eight calves in lour years, and seven of them are still alive. This prolific cow is a half-bred Jersey. In November, I'JIO, she had twin calves; in September of the following year she equalled tho performance, and repeated it in July, 1012; and during tlio present year siio has again produced twins. On each occasion a bull and a heifor were dropped.
Mr. M. G. B. Jelferson, managing director of the Australian Co-operative Export and Distributing Co.',' Ltd., has received a cablegram from Hamburg respecting the prices realised for the consignments of Australian apples, ex s.s. Melbourne, which Jeft during Mnrc'h-. The details are;—" Extra fancy" Jonathans, 15s. per case; "Fancy" Jonathans' (Somervillo pack). 10s. 9d. per case; "Fancy" Jonathans' (Victorian average pack), 10s., to 10s. M. per case.
