A tremendous sea is running, and arriving vessels hart been severely buffeted. A number have returned to port, and many are Sheltering. The rain has been widespread and torrential. Over eight inches fell in the city. The records in other places are heavier. The Tivers are rising, and big floods are feared. Wide areas of tho lowlands are already under water, and residents are moving. ' LOSS OF LIFE. TOUNG MAN DROWNED. (Rec. May 15, 9.10 p.m.) Sydney, May 15, Tho storm has aba led. Tho Hunter River is flooded. A young man named Joseph, Egan was drowned white en route to Morpeth (120 miles to the north of Sydney), to procure provisions. ' FATAL COLLAPSE OP A HUT. Sydney, May 15. During the storm a hut ebllapssd at Waratah (103 miles north of Sydney), and a man named O'Donohue was killed. SCHOONER'S PLIGHT. STILL ON THB SANDBANK. (Rec. May 16, 1.5 a.m.) Sydney, May 15. ' The five-masf)ed schooner George E. Billings, from Puget Sound, which was driven ashore at Botany Bay during the storm, is still on tho sandbank. The schooner ia now broadside on to the waves. All attempts to tow her off .lave so far ■ failed.
