INQUEST AT LOWER HUTT. An inquest touching tho death of Henry Jacob Carl Brandt, which occurred on Monday, was held at Lower Hutt yesterday, before Dr. M'Arlhur, district cor°uev - . , , , Evidenco was given by Dr. Mirams to the effect that death was due .to an acute failure of the heart. _ Thomas Twomev deposed to having hrst found deceased. 110 was then. dead. A verdict was returned that deceased died from heart failure. FAILURE OP HEART ACTION. At Petone yesterday afternoon Dr. M'Arthur conducted an inquest concerning the death of the late P. J. M'Carthv, a young man who died on Monday morn'"'Dr. Harding deposed that lie had been ceiled to the house afler death had occurred. He had conducted a pos>nortem examination and had found that death wn* due to heart disease. Margaret Ryan stated that deceased (her cousin) appeared to be in robust health. At the tinio of his death witness had been of opinion that deceased had fainted. A verdict was returned to tho effect that deceased died from heart failure duo to disease of the valves of tho heart. Thomas Batclvi'or, a married man, 55 vtars of age, gardener at Olrig Station, committed suicide yesterday by cutting his throat. Deceased told the manager lr> was going to leave, and asked for his ci>"nue. The manager later found Batciielor dead with' a razor in his hand. Debased had been drinking. SUDDEN DEATH. Auckland, May 11. Richard Alfred Mowll, aged GO, died suddenly in a cottage in Elliott Street this morning. He had lived in the cottage with another man, and had complained of feeling unwell, but refused to sco a doctor. His companion, on awakening this morning, found Mowll dead. It is°not known whether the deceased had relatives in the country or elsewhere. Ho j was a native of Birkenhead, Liverpool, I and had been thirty years in Now Zeaj laiiS. !
