SIR. DONALD M'LEAN.
NAPIER MEMORIAL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Napier, May 14. In the presenco of an interested gathering of spectators at M'Lean Park this afternoon, tho ceremony of unveiling the cairn erected to tho memory of the late Sir Donald M'Lean was performed by the Hon. J. D. Ormond. who in u most interesting speech detailed the early history of tho settlement of tire North Island, paying a great tribute of praise to the work of the lato Sir Donald M'Lean in that direction. Speeches were also delivered by tho Mayor (Mr. J. Vigor Brown), Mr. P. S. M'Lean, and Mr. R. D. D. M'Lean, tho last-named a son of the deceased statesman, and Waimaraina Puhara, a sm. ot the noted rangatira Urupenc Puhara, spoke on belfnlf of the Maori people, lhe cairn-is a substantial structure, 20h. by 12ft., and is a replica of that erected on tho memorable battlefield of Cullodsn. Tho M'Lean, Park Recreation Reserve, ten acres in extent, is also a gift to the people of Napics in memory ot Uie late Six Donald M'Lean.
