MIRAMAR MACHINE DAMAGED. "I have to bring under your notice tho persistent destructive efforts of some person or persons (probably irresponsible boys) to the coin-in-the-slot telephone installed in the tram waiting shed at Hirainar," stated a letter from tho telegraph engineer of tlio Post and Telegraph Department, received at last ni*ht's meet* ing of tho Mirnmar Borough Council. Continuing, tho letter said: Repeatedly tho coin raco has been jammed with paper, small stones, etc., tho electric globe broken, and tlio machine in consequence has been put out of action and partly destroyed. To maintain, it lias cost luore than tho revenue derived, and unless an improvement is effected I shall have to recommend its removal. . . ." Councillors, in discussing tho contents' of tho letter, condemned tho action of tho boys, 'and one councillor suggested that a reward bo offered for information leading to the detection of anyone found interfering with tho machine. Another speaker suggested that the machine should bo removed tp a shop. Uowover, it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Mayor (Mr. F. Townscnd). to make inquiries.
