A TESTIMONIAL.
TO MIS-. DAVID M'LAREN. A meeting .of friends of Mt.D. M'Laren, the retiring' Mayor, was lield in Tnrnbull's Rooms, Panama Street, last night, for -the purpose of arranging for giving slr. il'Laren some lcind of testimonial in recognition of his services to tlio city. Mr. P. .T. O'Regan presided, mid there were fifteen other people.present. "It was resolved on the motion of Mr. J. .T. M'Grnth, seconded bv Mr. R. Fletcher, that those present form themselves into a committee, with power to iiuld to Jtheir Humln'r, to devise means for reeogniMn',' Mr. M'Laren's services. Mr. Fletcher announced'that Mr. .T. G. W. Aitkeu had consented to act as chairman of the committee, jywl ho moved that Mr. Aitken be elected. The motion was carried without dissent.. It was further dccided, on the motion of Mr. R. Fletcher, that the presentation to Mr. M'Laren take tho form of an ad-dress-ami a purse of sovereigns.
