INCORRECT CONSIGNMENT NOTE.
« A HEAVY FINE. (By TelcifraDh.-BBOclal Correfioonrttnt.) Marton, May 8. At the. Marlon Court to-day, Gibbs anil Co., Ltd., sawmillers, were fined £50, and co.sts XI r>s. fid., on a cbavgo of making a false consignment noto of timber sent over the railway. The magistrate, in civins judgment, said it was quite clear from the evidence that the defendants had no intention of defrauding the NewZealand Railways, but in allowing a man to consign timber who was apparently linablo to measure forward timber correctly llicv must Ire held to be responsible.
