MINISTERS AND CONTRACTS.' WARNING BY "THE TIMES." Br Tsleßriph—Proas Association— OopyiiffM (Eec. May 8, 11.10 p.m.) London, May 8. "Tho Times" warns. Ministers that circumstantial and detailed rumours are current of Ministers' connection with navy and oil contracts. It urges the Ministers to take tho House of Commons into their confidenco and allay tho suspicion at tho outset. WHAT LEADING JOURNALS THINK. In commenting on the disclosures in tho Marconi contract inquiry the "Spectator" (Unionist) said: —"Wo desire once moro to put our allegations specifically. We do not accuse cither Sir Hufns Isaacs or Mr. Lloyd-George' of being guilty of corruption in any shape or form, for tho very good reason that we do not believe them guilty of corruption. Wo do say, however, that their conduct has not been marked by the delicacy and discretion which it is of tho utmost importance should mark tho conduct, of Ministers. Wo must go further, and say that so wanting in dclicacy and discretion was it that it was bound to give rise to those suspicions in tho public mind which wo all agree are most dangerous and most undesirable." The "Nation" (Liberal) closed its article on 'Sir Rufus Isaacs and Mr. Lloyd Georco and their sharo purchases with the following paragraph"Sir Eufus acted, we think, in good nature and with an obvious desiro to guard against evil. But we must record our oonvicfTon that his judgment was at fault, and that he did not adequately survey tho perilous ground on which ho trod. He was properly careful of tho greater interests at stakej it is a pity that ho did not also consider, for himself and ,for others, whero tho path of prudence lay." The "Daily Mail" (Unionist) said: "So far as wo i.re concerned we have never expected horrible revelations in the Marconi case, and we havo not been disappointed. What we do see in it is lack of .delicacy and a distorted sense of eroportion."
