Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, reporting on their Sol way sale, state that sheep came forward well up to advertised numbers, and although the £?£ wot and boisterous, buyers attended in fair numbers, and bidding all through . was good. There were some exceptionally Rood fines.on offer, notably on account of Mr. J. Lord, Bideford, and keen competition took place for the different lines submitted on tnis client's behalf. Compare witli last week's sale, prices for lambs werei-bet-ter by le. per head. Good ewes also sliced an advance of from 1-s. to Is. 6d. Abraham amd Williams, Ltji., report as follows on their PahiatuT? stock sale:—We offered a good yarding ii sheep and a. fair yarding of cattlc. The demand for steep was similar to tho previous week. However, there was a satisfactory clearance at last week's priccs. Cattle sold at late rates. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co„ Ltd., Palmerston North, report:—At "Hlmitangi, on Monday, a fair entry of sheep and cattle met with a somewhat dragging sale. A good clcaranco was, however, effected at late rates. Quotations:— Shcop: Cull ewes, 3s. 6(1.; forward ewes, 12?. 7d. Cattle: Wcaners (small), 18s. 6d. to 20s. 6d.; wcaners (medium), 225. 6d. to 255,; wcaner steors, 305.: wcaner heifers (Jersey cross), £2 25.; aged cows, 15s. to 255.; cows in raif, £3 17n. 6d.; heifers in calf. On Tuesday last the same firm held a clearing sale on account of Mr, W. 11. Stephenson, who has sold his farm. There was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was keen throughout. Owing to bad weather a largo number entered did not come forward. There was a good Attendance of buyers, and bidding was cold throughout the sale, especially for all sorts of draughts, but hacks and harno-s sorts were hard to emit, although 26 of, the entry were sold. The Addington livo stock market entries were not so largo to-day as they have been of late, thero being a considerable falling-off in the yanlrae of stor.e sheep. There was u, good attendance, and store sheep again sold. well, especially better sorts. Inferior sorts were a. little easier, whilst, fat cattle were easier, and fat lambs showed .1 sharp rise, in conscquonce of koen competition between two export buyers. At Sohvay (Masterton) yesterday, the Now Zealand Loan and Jloreantilo Co. submitted a good yarding of sheep to a satisfactory attendance of buyers. Competition was much brighter than at the previous sale,' and prices generally were considerably highor. Forward lambs made from Bs. 6d. to 10s. 6d.; medium, 7s. G,d. to Bs.; empty ewes, to lis. 3d.; ewes in lamb, Bs. 6d.; dairy cows, £6, BDEXSIDE MARKET. □ unodln, May 7. At Burnside to-day 235 fat cattle wero yarded, including a few penß of prime bullocks. At the start of the sale prices wero from 10s. to £2 lower tlian last week's rates, and, towards the finish, they were fully 30s. down. Best bullocks, £11 ICS. to £i 2 10s.: good, £9 10s. to £lu 10;.: best heifers. £8 10s. to £10 17e. 6d.; good. £6 ss. to £7 .10s. Fat sheep: 2341 penned. The yardiii" included a fair number of good heavy sheen. Prices opened about Is. above last week's rates, but eased off as the sale progressed, and, towards the close, values were down to those of last- week.
