MEETING AT AUCKLAND. - (By Telegraph.—Preas Association.) , Auckland, May 7. Tho 1 principal _ feature of to-day's do3ngs'in connection with the. visit of H. 11.5, New Zealand was the', sports meeting, which had been postponed from Saturday on account o{ the weather. A good deal of rain fell, to-doy,' but only m the form of showers, and a large crowd attended the .sports; which were a decided success. A number of interesting events wero contested, including some open only' to mcn-o'-warsmen. A seven-a-side Eugby football tournament was also part of the programme. A team from, the battleship, competed, but was beaten in the first round. A second batch of officers and men left for Rotorua to-day to spend a day there in' sight-seeing. ' 'The citizens' ball given last week to the. officers was a financial, as well as a social,, success, resulting in a credit bal- ■ &nce of ,£IS. , .An address of welcome was presented ■to Captain ITalsey on board the vessel to-day by a number of Maoris representing Natives living in the Ilauralci district, and in tho neighbourhood of Auckland.
