A' Wanganui Weu'cilng. On Wednesday, April 30, the marriage tool; place in St. Paul's Church, Wanganui, of Miss Olive Bayly, second daughter of tho late .Mr. Daniel Bayly, of Wanganui, to Mr. Stanley Rankin, of Wellington, youngest son of Mr. J. Rankin, of Motueka. The church had been beautifully decorated by the friends of the bride with flowers and foliage, and the service, which was partly choral, was ppi-formed by tho Rev. J. 1). M'Kenzie. The bride, who was given away l,y her uncle, Mr. T. C. Bayly, of Hamilton, wore a gown of soft ivory satin, with a draped overdress of princess lace caught up with sprays of orange blossoms. A beautiful veil of Honitoii lace (a gift from (he bride's sister) was fastened to the head with orunge blossoms, nnd she carried a bouquet of white Japanese chrysanthemums, orange blossoms, and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids in- attendance wero Miss Corn Bayly (chief), sister of tho bride, and Miss Eileen Rankin, sister of tho bridegroom. The former was becomingly gowned in rich apricot satin, draped with flowered cream ninon, finished with two large loops of cream velvet. Her.p'cture hat was of cream tagel straw, massed with cream ostrich feathers, and she carried a shower bouquet of cream and tangerine chrysanthemums, with autuum foliage. Hiss Eileen Rankin was in a gown of palest, blue satin, with overdress of /lowered ninon and black beaver hat with white feathers. She carried a bouquet of cream chrysanthemums and autumn foliage, fastened with long black velvet streamers.

The test man was Mr. Norman Hogg, aud Hie groomsman Mr. Stanley Anderson, both of Wellington. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a platinum and pearl pendant and necklet, and to tho chief bridesmaid was given a pearl and periodot brooch. Tho second bridesmaid received pearl and peridot earrings. As tho bridal party left the church the Wedding March was played by the organist, who had also filled in tho interval of waiting l.eforo the ceremony began with appropriate music. A reception was hold'at the rcsidenco of the bride's mother, 45 Bell Street, Mrs. Bayly rccciiving in a gown of blnck silk, relieved with white Maltese lace, and hat to match. Mrs. 'J'. Duncan (Auckland) sister of Hie bridegroom, wore a gown of shot silk and a large black velvet hat with feathers; Miss Rankin, another sister of tho bridegroom, was in blue silk voile, with green facings, and hat en suite. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Horace Bayly, Mr. and Mrs. Mnckay. Miss. Beth Mackav. ■ Dr., and Mrs. Wilkin, Mr. and Mrs. Hawken, Dr. and Mrs. Porritt, Mr. and Mrs. .Tames Watt, the Rev. J. D. M'Kenzie and Mrs. M'Ken7,ie, Mr. D. I'eat, and many others. Later in the afternoon tlip bride and bridegroom left for tho south, en route for their home in Wellington, the former travelling in a coat and skirt of navy blue whipcord, handsomely embroidered, and a black hat with cream crown and sweeping cream ostrich feather. For Women and Children, A meeting of-tho Society for the Health of Women and Children was held at their rooms, 86 Vivian Street, on Monday, May 5. Mrs. Algar AViliiaius, president, was in the chair. The ladies present were: Lady Stout, Mesdames W. 1?. Ward, Nijil M'Lean, M'Vicar, and Misses Cablo and M'Leiian. Apologies for absence were received from Lady Gibbes, Mesdnmes Atkinson, Fitchelt, and G. J. Reid. A good deal of routine business was transacted, and accounts amounting to i 26 were passed for payment. Arrangements are being made tor Dr. Truby King's lecture, which takes place at Sydney Street Schoolroom on Thursday night. The subject is to be "Health and Fitness," with illustrations from lantern slides. Mr. and Mrs. King leave by the Rangitira for London to represent Now Zealand at the great Health Conference.

Obituary. There passed away on April 26, at her daughter s residenco l(Mrs . Peek, senr., of Ellerslie) an old resident of Auckland, nged 95, in the person of Mrs. George Burton Smith, who arrived in Auckland in 1841 from the Bay of Islands, and waa married to the late Mr. J. B. Smith, accountant, in January, 1842, at the residence of tho Rev. Churton, St. George's Bay. Her family of eight have all predeceased her, with the exception of her eldest, daughter. There are 22 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren. The friends of the late Mrs. Newman will bo very pleased to know of the great success that has attended the memorial fund inaugurated by the Reform League, and that a substantial sum lias been handed by the Reform League's committee to the Convalescent Home Trustees. Tho work in connection with tho sun-room is well in hand. Contributions to the fund are still being received by the: treasurer, Mrs. Ernest Hadlield, Hill Street. Miss Marchant has returned to Wellington from her visit to Auckland. Mrs. Haggitt (Dunedin) is visiting Weliinxton, aud is staying at the Windsor Hotel.
