BOARD OP APPEAL APPOINTMENTS,

Mr. Peter Barr, of Dunedin, and Mr. J. IL, Richardson, Commissioner of the Government Life Insurance Department, have been appointed by his Excellency tli6 Go'vbrrioi" nu'inberi of- tho'Publio'bcrvico Board of Appeal. Mr. Peter Bcirr is the chairman of tho board. Jlr. Bnrr was a member of tho Public Scrvico Commission which reported to Parliament last session. , The board at any sitting will consist of three jncmbers, tho two Government nominees and ono of four elected representatives, according to tho branch of the public scrvico from which an appeal has emanated. Two of tho elcctcd members will represent tho general Civil Service, and the two branches of the Post and Telegraph Department aro each entitled to ono representative. Mr. Alex Mill has been returned unopposed to represent the Telegraph branch of the Post and Telegraph Department. Elections of tho other three representatives are now' in progress. Yesterday was tho last day for the posting of voting-papers, all of which had to bo posted not later than 5 p.m. As somo of tlio voting papers havo to como from distant parts of tlio Dominion, a period of ten days lias been allowed for their transmission to Wellington. The count of votes will bo mado on Mav 15, and tho results will bo announced as soon as possiblo afterwards. Tho returning officer in the election of representatives of tho general Cavil Service is Mr. J. C. Williamson, Chief Clerk of Iho General Post Office, while Mr. F. C Do Castro, Chief Clerk to tho Education Department, is returning officer in tlio Post and Telegraph Department clec- ■ Tliero aro nino candidates for election ns representatives of tlio general Civil Service, and two liavo como forward as representatives of tlio Postal branch of the Post and Telegraph Department.
