The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile' Agency Co., Ltd.. report:—Dorinc tho week we held eales at Jlakot-iiku (Wednesday! and Dannevlrke- (Friday). At Jlakotukn we liad a fair share of tho small yarding of sheep that, came forward. At Dannevirko we had a small yarding of both sheep and cattle. Prices were on a parity with recent rates, and we effected a total clearance at. both sales. Sheep: Tour and five-year-old ewes In lamb, 10;.; cull ewes, fe. 9d. and 65.; cull wethers, lte Bd. to lis.: c.ull iambs, 7s. 4d., 4s. 2d., 3s. 2d.; two and four-tooth wethers. 14s. 4d.; forward ewes, IPs. Bd. Catt-lo: Store cowe, £3 10s., £2 12s. 6d., £1 16s. Pigs: Weaner pigs, 6s. 6d. In spite of the wel weather we had a pood (sale, every pen of sheep bjing quitted, and only one pen. of cattle being turned out unsold. A coort line of 65 three-year steers made £5 12sl 6d. Quotations: Small lambs. 6s. 6d.; medium shorn lambs. 7s. to 7s. 9d.;' small woolly lambs, 7s. 2d.; good woolly lambs, ?3. 9(3.; good shorn lambs. 9s. 9d. Cattle: Small weaners, 145.: small weaner heifers, 265.; yearling heifers, £2 Is.: store cows, £3: backward dairy cows, £3; springing heifers, £5 12s. 6d. to £5 15;.; three-year steers, £5 12s. 6d.
Mr. Newton Kind's weekly stock Teport states, inter alia, as follow:—On Tuesday last- for my Stratford bullbck fair and rattle sale I liad a very big yarding of over 2500 liead. A big number of three to four-year bullocks were yarded, tho entry of this class of cattle being, in tho opinion of eomc of the southern buyers, tho best seen in Tarana-ki for many years. A particularly fine lino of 130 three and n, half-year bollocks in very forward condition. straight from the JTitkuhakerc Station (Awaliiuo), were much admirtd. and elicited keen competition, selling very readily at. £7 165.. £7 Us. 6(1.. and £7 13s. Goodconditioned cows and bulls were in Ftronir demand, some very nice pens of'Jersev and Holstem weaner-heifers wore offered, the former sellin.z up to £3 75., and Holsteins up t-o £3 Bs. Other prices realised were as follow:—Mixed weaners from £1 2s. to £1 J;.; aged cowe or small, 12s. to £2 55.; store cows, £2 12s. 6d. to £3 15s. Cd.; forward cows, £3 19s. 6d. to £4 165.: fat- cows. £5 Is. to £5 155.: (rood-conditioned bulls, £5 la. to £7 155.: small, £1 6s. to £4 55.: empty twenty-months coloured'heifers, £4 l«s.. 6d.; springing heifers, £5 15n. ; sprincinc cows, £6 155.; coloured, in-calf heifers, £5 17s. 6d.,- two and a, half-year steers, £4 ss. to £4 15s.tliree-yoar steers, £5 ICs. to £5 175.: three and thtee a,nd !i half-year bullocks. £6 ss. to £6 Hg. At Stony River on Wednesday thero was a good entry and attendance, and most line 3 sold at late market Tatos as follow:—Weaner heifers, £1 lte. to £2 10s.; empty twentymonths hoifors, £3 65.; we an or steers, £t 10s. to £1 12s. 6d.; mixed weaners, £1 175.: store cows, £1 10s. to £3 17s. 6d.; forward and fat cowe, £4 to £6 Os.; hulls, £1- 10s. to £5 2u. 6(1.: forward two and a half-yea- - steer.-. £5 45.: cows, guaranteed sound,'£4; Tlolstein, in-calf two and a half-year heifers (choice line), £9 9s. 6d.
