SEPTEMBER-APRIL TOTALS. From September to the end of April lust a total of 307/115 crates of cheese were exported from New Zealand to the United Kingdom. This means ail increase of 71,5G5 crates when compared with tho same period of the 3911-12 season and an increase of 119,902 crates, as against tho 11)10-11 season. Some days ago it was announced that tho 'manufacture of sugar of milk was to be undertaken in the South Island and lvw, according to a northern exchange, an Auckland firm is about to erect a large dairy factory at Mnlangi for the manufacture of cheese, casein products and sugar of milk. At a meeting lield in Matangi at which a large number of suppliers were present, the policy of the company was outlined by the 'managing director, and, it ia .stated, a very favourable impression was ■made, mors particularly in reference to the prospects of obtaining higher prices for butter-fat than havo been prevailing lately in the Waikato. The company expects to employ a fair number of hands, and the, factory work will be governed by a staff of chemists, who have hud European experience in the production of certain commodities requiring a special technical knowledge.
