SPRAYING & PRUNING

COMPETENCE CERTIFICATE. Some time afro arrangements were made by which the Orchards and hardens Division of the Department of Agriculture undertook to couduct examinations, both written and practical, of persons desirous of obtaining certificates of competency in tho work of spraying unci pruning. Up to the present, seven candidates have passed the examinations and won Departmental certificates. Four of these certificates go to the South Island and three— Messrs. J. I'. Knlangher, Doronport; ,F. Brine, Wanganui East; and N. IS. Brown. Wnnganui East—to the North Island. Another North Islander, Mr. 11. A. .T. Boniface, of Gisboniu, won a certificate for spraying only. The winter spraying season i? now at hand, and tlioso desirous of sitting for these certificates can arrange for examinations to be held at .suitable centres by communicating with Mr. T. W. Kirk, head of Orchards Division of the Agricultural Department.
