Prior to the review of tho cadets on Saturday, tho Commonwealth . On arrival by train from Melbourne, tho Vicc-Eegal party entered their carriages, and escorted by a procession of fifty motor-cars and other carriages, headed by the Highland Society's Band, proceeded to tho Union Club, whero there were remarkable demonstrations of enthusiasm from tho big crowds everywhere.

As he i 3 deprived of an official residence, tho Governor-General's stay was necessarily only a flying one. Ho arrived by train at 10.30 a.m., and left again at 5.30 p.m. by the, P. and O. steamer Malwa, which was specially delayed in order to enable him to return to Melbourne.

Lord Denman's departure was the signal for another big display of loyalty.
