CORONER RETURNS OPEN VERDICT. By Telegraph—Preas Association—Oopyright (Rec. May 2, 8.40 p'.ni.) Sydney, May 2. Tile inquest concerning the death of tho girl Esther Porter, aged years, who resided at Bankstowri, and whose body was found near tho Punchbowl Railway Station on March 5 last, was resumed to-day. It had been stated that the girl Porter had been friendly with a baker named Chard, and occasionally went for rides in his cart. At tho continued inquiry, tho breadcarter Chard, in his evidence, stated that ho was very friendly with the family of the girl, and drovo hor in his cart on two occasions. He bad never at any time lMtdei an appointment with her, and did not see hor on tho day that slie disappeared. He nothing about the cause of tho girl's death. The coroner returned an open verdict, aud agreed with the conviction' among tho police that it was not a case of murder.

. Tho girl was a daughter of a wellknown family, and was of exceptionally fine physique. It was supposed that she had met her death when returning from visiting her mother at the hospital. Hot way homo was through scrub, and it was thought she had been set upon by tramps.
