ENGINEER GOES MAD.
SHOOTS HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN.

I'ercy Coates, an engineer, and a recent arrival from England, appears to have become suddenly mad. As Mrs. Coates was cooking- tho breakfast she was shot in the back with a revolver by her husband. She fled as Coates fired a second shot, which entered her arm. The wounded woman ran to the police station, and gave information of tho occurrence. Tho poiico, oil going to tho house, found that a boy, aged four, had been shot dead, and that another boy, aged five, was alive, though shot iu the lead and wrist. Coates was found lying unconscious, shot in the temple. It is not expected that Coates, who lias lately been suffering from depression, will recover.
