A large and- representative gathering of citizens in the Town llall> the Lord Mayor presiding, arranged a.' welcome , to Lord Dcnman, the Governor-General, who wilt visit this city on Saturday to renew the Cadets. The welcome will be of a nature such as to suitably express the sentiments of the citizens towards the Governor-General. : Mr. M'Gowon (Premier) .and other Cabinet Ministers sent excuses for non-at-tendance. Tho speeches made were protests against the Government for robbing Now South Wales of Hie Governor-General's -residence, a determination to wipo out tho stain of gross injustice cast on Sydney by tho Government's action, and express loyalty to Lord Denman as the representative for tho Commonwealth of his King. One speaker declared: "Wo can at least show that he lias a residence in all loyal hearts."
A fund has been opened to meet the cost of decorating the city on the occasion. of tho Governor-General's visit.
- It was decided that a procession of carriages and motoivcars should follow Lord Dcmnan's carriage.
