Immense interest was taken in the Borough Council election to-day on account of the Labour party running a "ticket." Tho poll was the heaviest, on record. Only one straight-out Labour candidate was returned, end he was a retiring councillor. The figures in tho election were as follow: — A. E. Winzcnberg 879 ,T. C. Ewington 863 W. Candy 842, 11. Pragnell, 575; \\. Kemp, 575; W. L. Falconer, 186. NEW PLYMOUTH. Mr. G. W. Browne has been re-elected Mayor, polling 1350 votes, as against 781 recorded for his opponent, Mr. J. S. Medley. WANGANUI. Great interest was manifested in the elections to-day, seven issues being before tho public. Mr. T. if. Williams iras elected Mayor,' and the Thursday halfholiday was adhered to. PALMERSTON NORTH. Complete returns are not in yet, but it is certain that the Wednesday halfholiday will be carried. Messrs. M. Cohen and John Cobbe were returned as members of tho Wellington Harbour Board. Tho Mayor (Mr. J. A. Nash) was re-elected unopposed. ■ FOXTON. To-day's proceedings were marked by the keenest interest yet oiinced in a municipal election. Mayoralty: Mr. U, 11. Stiles, 529; Mr. J. L. Harvey, IS'J. Majority for' Mr. Stiles, 330. GISBORNE.Mr. James Robert Kirk, solicitor, fomierly of Naseby, was elected Mayor of Gisborne. The figures were:—Mr. Kirk, 960 votes; Dr. Collins, 815 votes; Mr. John Sheridan, 523 votes. MARTON. ' Mr. J. H. Miles was elected Mayor of Marton. TAIHAPE. Tho Mayoral election resulted:—Mr. W. M'Leminn, IG9 votes; Mr. H. D. Bennett, 293 votes.

The City returned four supporters of the proposed Sumner canal to the Harbour Board. The vote on the statutory half-holiday resulted in Saturday being selected, the voting being Saturday, 93:it>; Thursday (present haUMioliday), 5154. .New Briguton .Mayoralty.—Mr. C. H. Wiiuiy elected. Lyttellon.—Mr. J. R. Webb was electcd as Mayor.

Riccarton Mayoralty—Mr. W. H. Reynolds. DU.XEDIN. The Mayoral okction for Dunedin City resulted as follows.—Councillor AY. D. Stewart, 551!7 .votes; Mr. W. Belcher, 4368; Councillor Shacklock, 369!). In Mornington, Mr. S. Solomon (the retiring Mayor) defeated Mr. A. P. M'Carthy by BDG votes to 201. ASHBURTON. Only five' Borough Councillors offered themselves for re-election, and all were returned.- The following are the names of councillors for the ensuing term Messrs. Lloyd, Mavison, Hefi'ord, fcerninan, I'riest (ail te-elected), Orr, Christian, Stewart, and Buchanan. For the vacancy as borough representative on tho North Canterbury Hospital Board there were two candidates, tho retiring member, Mr. Heiirv Davis, being returned by a majority of'lo7 over his opponent, Mr. Robert Clark.

Blenheim.—Councillor E. S. Parker polled 837 votes, defeating the sitting Mayor (Mr. .1. J. Corry), who polled i9l. (tore.—Tho Mavoral election resulted'in the return of Mr. M'Dougall, who polled .JIB votes. Council|or_ Smith polled 3b-, and Councillor Kelly 272. Hokitika.—Great interest was taken in tho municipal election, tho seats on tho Borough Council. Tho council elections resulted in the return of eleven mombers of tho citizens' ticket, and ono Labour candidate, who was a member of the last council. The weather was showery, but the polling, nevertheless, was fairly heavy. Nelson.—The City Mavoral election resulted in tin? return of Mr. AY. Lock, who polled 1220. Mr. W. \\. Snougrass polled "'fiinaru.—Mr. W. Angland was electcd Mavor out of four candidates, with a majority of 23 over Mr. 1. Hawkey, tho present Mayor. , , , Wcstport—Record polling was recorded nt tho elections to-day. For tho Mayoralty Mr. A. lioaver polled 1045 votes, Mr T. D. O'Brien 643, and T. Samuel 306* For the Harbour Board (two seats) Mr F. F. Munro polled 1169 votes, Mr. J Scanlon '.172, Mr. H. Gillon 778, and Mr. \V. G. M'Donald 718. Mossrs. Munro and Scanlon were elected. For tho Hospital Board there were ten candidates for four seats. the successful ones were Mr. Greenwood, 1228 vote; Mr. Larsen, 107G votes; Mr. M'Donald, 835 votes; and Mr. Lauge, 80S votes. For the Borough Council twenty-one candidate? stood, 'tho successful ones being Mossrs. Larson, 1180 votes; Hagodorn, 1128; Lange, 997; Mackav 945; M'Donald, 902; Gillen, 891; Barker, 803; Hufton, 715; and Sproule, 726.
