ATHLETIC SPORTS.

RUGBY. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Wellington Kugby Union met last evening, Mr. E. 0. Hales (chairman) presiding. Tho business transacted was concerned mainly with matters of routine. Tho Athletic Club's fourth class team applied for exemption from default for tno match of Saturday last, as several members of the team had been unable to play, owing to having to attend the Oringi camp. The application was granted. The secretary of the Selwyn Junior Football Club, in a letter, protested strongly against the conditions under which their match with Porirua was played at Porirua on Saturday last, iliere was no dressing-shed, he alleged, and tho players had to make the best of a fowlhouse and trapshed in the vicinity of tho ground. There was, further, no shower or bath, and the players had to travel all the way back to town without a wash.—The committee decided to investigate the matter, and, if necessary condemn tho Porirua ground. It wns resolved to invito the Wairarapa Union to send a representative team to Wellington on June D next (tho King's Birthday). Mr. ft. A. Marris was elected to the Appointment Board as representative of tho Wellington Football Club. It was decided, in response to an invitation from the Taranaki Union, to send a team to Hawera, on June 25 next, the date of the Hawera winter show. TWO CLUBS JOIN FORCES. Tho Liberal (Featherson) and Grey town Football Clubs have amalgamated under tho title of "The Liberal-Grey town United Football Club," with headquarters in Featherston. It is hoped that the new combination will enable several teams to be put in the field, as for some time past there has been a difficulty in obtaining players for the matches arranged.
