The trout-fishing season, which concludes to-morrow, has been fairly successful in; tlio Masterton district. Towards (lie end of the season, some excellent fish luiTO 'been taken by local anglers. On Sunday last one angler captured two trout each of which turned the scalo at 81b._ A commencement has bceii/inado with tho erectioiu of the new police station in Masterton. The building will be situated at tho cornea: of llnll and Chapel Streets. The weed known as pennyroyal .is reported to be spreading in some parts of t'lie Masterton County, The municipal election, to be held tomorrow, promises to bo tho most exciting in the history of Masterlon. The Labour parly is running sdx candidates, and 'these ai'o, it is understood, favourable to changing the half-holiday from. Thm-nlay to Saturday. The election will be fought out largely on the hall-holiday issue.
