The membership, it is staled, is increas-. ing, but there is still room for further projjreys in this direction, during the coining year. Tho onn.inl show was very successful iroin the point of view of an exhibition of purebred stock, tho pens and stalls being exceptionally well tilled, and in this respect was one of the most Miecessful shows the society has held Griifortiinately, howwer, the show was inferred by the wet weather experienced on both days. Tho society had a splendid exhibit of llolsleinFriesian cattle, the association's ami society's cha'tipion-trips being offered for competition and drawing a display of dairy cattle which any society v. on Id have lelt proiul to litvo collected on its shoiv grounds. Accommodation was again kindly provided by Air. W. Howard Boot!', lor the raws in the butter-fat competition, and was very much appreciated by the committer and those who competed. The competition was won. by a cow belonging to Mr. W. A. Hart. The dates ot' next show, the week following Hawke's 'lay show, as usual, are October 22 and 2!J. The report states that a few experimental plots of grasses, lucerne, ctc., will be laid down and conducted by tlio Department of Agriculture on certain farms an the district. Though the ploughing match was held 'in wet weath-i", the competition was well attended, and was considered a great success. It is proposed to hold this year's ploughing match at Tauherinikau on June 12," in a paddock on No. 1 Line, offered by 31 r. Q. Donald. It is tho intention of tho conimitteo to institute classes for yearling draught colls and fillies and two-year-old lillies at the coming match. In conclusion, the committee thank those who contributed so generously to tho prize fund, both in Wellington and Waira.rapa, and also express appreciation of tho-work carried out by the judges and stewards, to whom belongs in a. great measure the credit of tho success and popularity of tho show. -■
