HUNT CLUB MEET.
The second meet of tho Hutt I Valley Branch of tho Manawatu Hunt Club was held yesterday afternoon. The weather was perfect and brought out a iargc number of riders. The' vim was over similar ground to that of Saturday, tho lay-off being from tlio back of Sir. August's house. The horses all seemed fit and willing, though there was considerable, difference among theni.. Tho Manawatu horses wero very fine animals and one or two of the Hutt hunters were not far behind. The troublo the' horses had at tlio water jump was somewhat amusing. Mr. Shaw, the huntsman, and Mr. Campbell, who was riding Mr. Samuel's horse, did some fine jumping. The jump, however, was too stiff for any horse but professional jumpers, being about 13 feet, and consequently most of the others baulked at it. One rider made two very plucky■ attempt's, but landed each time in the creek, much to the amusement of the public. Jlr. and Mrs. N. S. Campbell, who have recently taken over the Bellevtio (jardens, entertained the members' of the Hunt Club and their friends to afternoon tea.
