The speaker paid, in support of his allegations, that there was "wirepulling" in regard to the subdivision of Martin's property, and other matters. Several questions wero answered, and Councillor Ball received a voto of thanks i'or his remarks.

Tho annual prize-giving ceremony ut Lcwer Hutt District High School was held on ITridny afternoon. jfr. H. Baldwin, chairman of the committee, presented somo 70 prizes. Afternoon tea was provided bv. (lie girl scholars. At. the conclusion of tho public meeting, held in TMone on Friday night, at which candidates for municipal honours gave addresses, Mr. T. - Townsend moved:— "That this meeting enters an emphatic protest against tho disfranchisement of Government Servants, and calls upon Parliament to legislate so that Stato employees could lake part on municipalities." The motion was carried unanimously. Tho annual meeting of tho Hutt Licensing Committee will bo held at the Hutt Magistrate's Court, on Wednesday, June J.
