STOCK. FEOM THE OLD COUNTRY. • ~ Writing under date February 17, the Mark Lane Express" states that Mr. F H. Jennings, of Cocklield Uall, 13ury St. Edmunds, has recently dispatched a valuable consignment o£ Southdown sheep to New Zealand, comprising a yearling ram, Beacon 51th,-whoso'siTe w-as Beacon 39th, ft very noted sire of' prize-winning stock, whose graiidsiro.., was Beacon 17th, that won first prize and champion at the Bath Mid West of England Show some few years back. ■ •" ■ Tho yearling owes numbered five, two of tneni being,b? Alfred 13th, one of the picked stud sires descended from the Pagham ■ Harbour Flock, and the other three were by Hugh 2nd, a stiul ram that was used most successfully in the flock formerly owned by Mr. A. Jlcasman, and nlso by Mr. JT.'Podwick, and subsequently in the C'ockfield I'lock. This noted sire, which was born in the year l'JOl, lived until December last; its (lam was a Penfold owe,.which lived until it was sixteen' years of age, and was the dam of a very large number of noted stud sires, which made li name for themselves in the old I'enfold Flock, in that formerly owned by Mr. P. N. Hoteen, and also that owned by Mr. C. H. Bciners.
