ONSLOW WATER SUPPLY.
Sir,—ln your issue of Saturday "E.H." writes a lengthy letter under tho above heading. I must take objection to 0110 of his statements wherein he instanced the Johnsonvillo water works as a failure from a point, of supply. The Town Board did not rush into this undertaking without being absolutely convinced that the necessary quantity of water could be obtained. Results liave justified all expectations and the supply will no doubt suffice for double the present population. When he speaks about engineers' estimates and extras I am with him every time. Judging from past experience I reckon that 20 per cent represents a minimum margin to allow for such. Writing as an impartial outsider who has taken n passing interest in the discussion of our neighbouring borough it. just, strikes me that if a water supply costs .SIS.OOO. will a drainage scheme, which will certainly cost much more, be within the means of these two wards?—.! am. etc.. OTTO JERUSALEM. Johnsonville, April 20, 1313.
