KHANDALLAH AND NGAIO WATER SUPPLY.

„ Sir,—Referring to tho letter in jour issue of Saturday, regarding the Khaiulal'lah water supply, it does not appear to me that the question of the rights of property owners and others below the proposed dam has been, fully considered. X would point out that as tho supposed source of water supply is already enjoyed by lower riparian proprietors ior business purposes, it will as a. matter of elementary lav bo nccessary ior the borough t) assure, to such riparian proprietors an equally garni water supply, or {ull compensation for deprivation of natural water rights, to the full extent of which they now enjoy. It may be remembered that the Pctone Borough Council had to incur an expense. running into several thousands in order to avoid very heavy compensation claims from tho Woollen Company as a possessor of water rights in the stream proposed to be used at Pel-one. Thero is nothing to shoiv ratepayers that this great question has been properly provided tor. its tremendous importance ii an undertaking of this sort will be recognised when one considers the small stream -which is the basis of tho proposed scheme, tho daily flow of which in a droughty summer falls almost' to the negligible quantity.—l am, etc., LEX.
