CHINA'S APPEAL.

Meyer (the wellknown Nonconformist minister) has received. a cable message from tho Federal Council of tlio Chinches of America, stating that all are responding to tho appeal from China that pitayers ho offered up for the success of tho 'Republic. Tho Very Rev. Aichdeacon Moule, lato Archdeacon in tho missionary diocese of Mid-China, and who was for fifty years a missionary in' China., describes tho appeal as an electrifying event. The Eor. Lord William Gascoyne-Cecil, Hector of Bishops iHatfield, said two honourable motives were impelling China. The first was patriotism, China fearing tho risk of disruption 'and a humiliating form of foreign domination. She also desired recognition as a nation. The second motive was respect for Western roligion. This was an appreciation of the value of Western thought, regarding tho anti-opium crusade. It was significant that tho English bishops had invited tho clergy to offer up intercessions. BIDDING BAST AND WEST. (Rec. ApTil 27, 5.5 p.m.) Peking, 'April 26.
