MORTGAGE BUILDING CO. The directors of the 'Wellington Deposit, Mortgage, and Building Association. Ltd., in their twelfth annual report and balance sheet for the year ended March 31, 1913, show that the net profit on the year's business is £1241 13s. 4d., which, added to £200 15a 3d. brought forward from last year, makes a total of £1442 Bs. 7d. The directors recommend that this sum he applied os follows:—The payment of a dividend for the year at tho rate of 4J per cent, per annum, which will absorb £1125, the balance to be carried to next year's account. A sum of £189 ss. Id. has been written off interest in arrcar to meet contingencies. Messrs. Palliser and Smith, directors, retire, and being eligible, offer themselves fot re-election. BANK BATES OP INTEREST. The Bajik of England rate was, on February 8, 1912, reduced from 4 to 3,1 per cent., and on May 9 it was further to 3 per cent. On August 29 it was raised to 4 per cent., and on October 17 to 5 par cent. It was reduced to 44 per cent, on April 17. 1913. The Bank of France rate was reduced from 34 to 3 per cent, on January 23. 7.908, and continued at tho latter ggure ymtil 6eptember 12, 1911. when it was raised to li per ccpt. On Jtay 17, 1912, It was reduced to 3 per cent., on Octobor 17 it, was raised to 3J per cent., and on Octo'bcr 30 to 4 per cent.
