VIEWS or A FARMER. Referring, to; an article on the pig industry, which'appeared in this 'column.,tccently, a correspondent, Mr. W. James, jun. t of Shannon, writes:— "Kindly allow mo space in your .valuable, paper to reply to your article re the pig industry. No doubt now bacon is selling <at o-.very high price, but the farmer's not leaping the benefit, you probably think he is. lie is offered -now by the principal 1)80011 -curers of Wellington 4id. per lb. for his pigs, and then has to run nil tho risk of them being condemned. Furthermore, tho average farmer is not the fool some might take him to be, with regard to filthy quarters and bad food. With tho present price of land and stock, the farmer, cannot afford.to neglect anything in which thero is an honest shilling." . .
