HARBOUR AFFAIRS.
MEETING OF THE BOARD. Tho ordinary meeting of tho Wellington Harbour Board was held last night. Thoro, wero present': Messrs. R. Fletcher (chairman), M. Cohen, C. J3. Darnell, ,T. G. Ilarkness, A. MacFarlane, J. G. Cobbe, J. W. ll'Ewcn, A. H. Hiudmarsh, W. T, IliliU'cth, R. C. Runner, J. E, Fitzgerald, and J. Trevor. Leave of absence was granted to Mr. C. D. Jones.
The bank pass-books showed credit balances as follow:—Current account, .£38,181 2s.- lid.; imprest account, .£1452 12s. 5d.; on fixed deposit, ,£BO,OOO. Payments for tho month wcro as follow:—For interest .accounts and wages, ,£17,820 15s. 3d.; progress payments on contracts, ,£3003 4s. 6d.; salaries for. April, ,£547 lis. 7d. The chairman reported that tho tender of Mr. A. li. Hislop for the supplv and delivery of 277$ tons of cut and punched steel hoops and three tons of malleable cast-iron studs, for the sum of w£3lS7 18s. 9d., th.o lowest tender, had been accepted, that tho. contract had been duly -signed, and the sum of .£3lO deposited in lieu of sureties. The board approved tho contract. The following tenders for annual supplies and services were accepted:—Coal, A Schedule. Blackball Coal Co., Ltil.; coal, B and C Schedules, New Zealand State Coal Mines; coal, D Schedule, D. Andrews; removal of rubbish, D. Andrews. The board adopted the engineer's sketch plans and estimates for the lien; briclc store to bo erected between the King's and Pipitea Wharves, and the engineer was instructed to prepare working drawings and call for tenders.
