Hitherto tho City Council has consisted of fifteen members, but on this occasion in view of tho inclusion of Parnell and Arch Hill in tho city, the sizo of tho council is being increased to eighteen. All tho old members of the council, with the exception of two, arc seeking re-elec-tion. When tho nominations closed today a total of 35 candidates had been nominated. " CHRISTCHURCH. Three candidates were nominated for the City Mayoralty, tho sitting Mayor (111-. 11. Holland), 'a Labour candidate (Mr. T. J. M'Brido), and an Independent (Dr. Tiiacker). Candidates representing the Citizens' Association and Labour "tickets" were nominated for tho Central, St. Albans, and Linwood wards, while for Sydenham ward practically only the Labour "ticket" was represented. DUNEDIN. The Mayoral nominations at Dunedin comprise Mr. W. Belcher, and Councillors Shacklock and -Stewart. NAPIER. Mr. J. V. Brown (present Mayor) and Mr. J. P. Thompson liavo been nominated for tho Mayoralty. There are sixteen candidates for nine seats on the council. Asliburton—Mr. Henry Davis Ims been re-elected Mayor of Asliburton unopposed for tho eleventh successive term. Thero aro thirteen nominations for nine seats on the council. Blenheim.—Mr. J. J. Corry, the present Mayor, is opposed by Councillor E. S. Parker for tho Mayoralty. There are fourteen nominations for tho nine seats on the council. Eltham.—Mr. Thomas B. Crump was reelected as Mayor. Gore. —There are three candidates for the Goro Mayoralty—Messrs. J. W. Kelly, David M'Dougall, and/ E. C. Smith. For tho Borough Council there are 18 candidates for the nine seats. Thero is unusual interest in tho municipal elections owing to the differences of opinion relative to tho action of the retiring Borough Council in net takins steps to ask for outside financial assistance after the flood.
Hawera—Mr. A. AY. Gillies has beon ro-cleoted Mayor unopposed. Hokitika.—Mr. George Perry was reelected Mayor of Hokitika unopposed. Sixteen nominations were received for tho Borough ' Council, while, for three members each of the Hokitika Harbour Board and AYestland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, six nominations have been received.
Inglewood.—Mr. George Young was elected Mayor unopposd.o Invercargill.—Messrs. Duncan MacFarlane and Andrew Bain, both councillors have been nominated for tho Mayoralty. Tho Labour party is running a ticket of five for the council.
Kumara.—Mr. J. A. Murdoch has been re-elected Mayor. Nine councillors navo been nominated and elected. Mataura.—Messrs. John Lowden and T. G. Smith contest the Mayoralty. Nine councillors wero nominated, and declared elected. Mornington.—Mr. S. Solomon, present Mayor, is opposed by Mr. Arthur P. M'Carthy.
Oamar'u.—Mayoral nominations: Mr.ssrs, W. H. Rose, W. H. Frith, Jas. Mitchell. There arc 21 aspirants for seats on tho council. For : 4he Harbour Board, Messrs. J. M. Brown, AY.' 11. Frith, Rollt. Milligau, and Edward Lano were declared elected. For tho Hospital Board, Messrs. Andrew Eraser.and J. H. Milligan have been declared elected.' Ross.—Mayoralty, -Mr. T. AV. Bruce (reelected). Mr. S. Evans was nominated as Ross representative on the Hoki'iika Harbour Board, and ten councillors were nominated. St. Kilda.—Mr. AV. M'Farlane has been returned Mayor unopposed. _ v Tiniaru. —Mayoral nonrinations: Messrs. T. Hawkey (present Mayor), R. H. Eowic, 11. Green, W. Angland. For thirteen seats in the council there are eighteen nominations. .
AVnitara.—Mr. AV. I'. Jenkins was. returned unopposed for. a , sixth tenn as Mayor, Mr. M'Donakl for the Hospital Board. Messrs. Billing, Klcnner, Langman, RaiUenbury, and Spurdlo (old councillors), and Blanchard (new) were returned, and there is still 0110 vacancy. For the Harbour Board six old members and four new candidates were nominated. West Harbour.—Mr. William Carley lias' been returned unopposed for tho Mayoralty. .
