BIG DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. ZEALANDIA'S FIREMEN STRIKE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyright (Rec. April 23, 9.5 p.m.) Sydney, April 23. A deputation representing tho Southern and Northern coal-miners, tho Sydney and Newcastlo Coal Lumpers' Unions, and tho Seamen's Union, interviewed Mr. M'Gowen, tho Stnto Premier, and Mr. Cannichael, Minister for Labour, in regard to tho colliery trouble. It is understood that important proposals were submitted. Mr. M'Gowen has announced that it has been agreed not to divulgo any information in Tespect to the proceedings. ZEALANDIA HELD UP. (Rec. April 23, 9.5 p.m.) Sydney, April 23. The withdrawal of tho steamer Zealandia from the Vancouver service, and the placing of the vessel in the InterState running, has led to thci reduction in her number of firemen by three. The other firemen objected to this cut-ting-down of tho complement of men, and struck. As a consequence tho Zealandia is held up here. SMALL STRIKE PAY. (Hec. April 23, 9.5 p.m.) Sydney, April 23. At the first distribution of strike pay the Southern miners received Bs. each and 2s. for each child, which is at tho rate of Is. Cd. per week during tho currency of the strike.
The smallness of the amount is attributed to tho fact that many of tho unions havo not yet responded to tho appeal for. funds.
AN ECHO OF LITHGOW,
Sydney, April 23. Hatton, who was sentenced in October, 1911, to threo years' imprisonment for attempting to derail a train in connection with tho Lithgow strike riots, has been released. ■
