INTERESTING MEMOIRS.
Some remarkable , memoirs havo just been published in St. Petersburg by Countess LamsdorfT. widow of Count Lamsdorff, the well-known Russian statesman. . ■ The Countess evidently kept n strict record of all the dances ill which she participated from time to time. She is ablo to tell that she took part in "!>:W square dances, -1501) walt7.es, and GOO polkas her partners altogether numbering 1700. Describing tlio people with whom she lias danced, she says that she fouiid 1200 s(npicl, Ml) Iwrcsonip, 12(1 offensive, only twelve who were "nice," and three who were witty.
The Countess makes the interesting calculation that in all the dances she took part in she covered a distance equal to 10,000 miles.
