JOHNSONVILLE AFFAIRS.
A meeting of tho Johnsonville Town Board was held last evening. Commissioner Slooro was in tho chair, and thero were also present Commissioners Slay, Barker, Engel, Thompson, Lawrence, and Jerusalem. It was decided that the Minister Lands should bo asked to grand a certain piece of Crown land for a cemetery site. The Gas Comiui'tteo presented a favourable'. report. It stated that tho light was giving satisfaction, and tho number of connections were increasing. It was de-' cided that in future any complaints with respect to this service aro to be made to Sir. Dingwell. A complaint book is to be kept in the board's office. As' a further inducement to prospective consumers, a reduction is'being mado in tho price of tho gas as from May 1. Tho prices will then bo ss. for first 1000 feet, 4s. 2d. for tho second, and 3s. 4d. for third. .Theso will be the net prices. The board decided to fence its own jorition of the water catchment area, anil to call on adjoining owners to fcnco their respective portions.
A letter was received from tho Johnsonvilte Golf Club asking permission to erect a gate —Held over.
Commissioner Jerusalem was appointed to represent the board at tlie adjourned Hutt Road inquiry on April 30.
The board decided to join in with the Miramar Borough Council in making a protest to tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Board against tho high' levy made for tho current year. Commissioners Thompson and Jerusalem were appointed' to represent tho board. A letter - was received froVn the rabbit inspector asking the board to poison tho rabuits on the water catchment area. Be-, ferred to tho Public Health Department for advice.
The board decided to dispense with tho services of tho present ranger, and cull for fresh applications. Commissioners Moore, Thompson, and Jerusalem were appointed a committee to interview tho Health Department with a view to having tho cattle yards removed out of the town.
Tlio'same committee, with tho addition of Commissioner May, was instructed to .wait'upon the Minister for Railways to urgo upon the necessity of having tho present accommodation at the railway station improved. i
