Tho evidence for tho defence has closcd in the action for libel brought by Lord Alfred Douglas against Dr. Arthur Ransome and "The 'Times" Book Club in connection with Dr. Ransomo's' book on Oscar Wilde, alleging that Lord Douglas was responsible for Wilde's public disgrace and' abandonment to poverty. "The Times'" Book Club's manager testified that he had examined the volume and had found'its statements unobjectionable. However, when .Lord Alfred Douglas complained of the nature of tho book, he promised to withdraw it from 'sale.
