' Sharks are very plentiful ill the river .iust'now and some children, when paddling on, the foreshore on Saturday after; noon; had a narrow escape. A boy- on shore! saw a shark making for tliem and warned them, and they had hardly left, the-water when the shark came with such a rush as -to run itself high and dry on the Ijaach where it was dispatched. The report stated that the overdraft' was now wiped off and the guarantors had baen released from their pledge to the bank. A comparative table 1 accompanying the balance-sheet showed that the total receipts of tho association for tho last year were a* against X 4. r >B in the first year of its existence 18 years ago. Mr. It. V. Hammond' was elccted president.
