At a meeting of tho Masterton 1 Chamber of Commerce • this afternoon a communication was received from tho Wellington Chamber, stating. that it desired, to seo tho Wairarapa district developed, and. - had appointed delegates to accompany, tho Minister for Public Works on his projected: tour of tho district. .Tho president of the Masterton Chamber oppressed tho opinion that tho Wellington Chamber was not dealing with tho matter in a busiuess-liko way. He commented in facetious terms upon tho reply ffiven 'by the president of tho Wellington Chamber to local criticisms, and expressed tlie opinion that the business men of ■.the/city should display greater earnest ness'in the matter.of tho deviation of the Itimutnka. railway, i .;■ Several members thought that the opening of the back-blocks by railway was iho most important consideration at tho protent time.' •;■■-.. '■ After some discussion it was decided that representatives of the Masttrton Chamber wait upon the delegates of tho Wellington Chamber on the occasion of their visit here, and place the reo,ui;:cments of this district fully beforo them.
