HOSPITAL APPOINTMENT.

, ■ —» • QUERIED BY ; DR. VALINTINE. (Br Telesraph.—Special OorresDondent.) Wanganui, April 18. Writing to tho Wanganui iHosnital Board.in respect of the appointment of Dr. Ifntson, as house surgeon at tho Tnihapo Hospital, Dr.'Valintine, the Inspec-tor-General, said that it seemed to him to be a somewhat unnecessary exnenso to tho ratepayers to appoint a house surgeon at a salary of .£250 for so small a hospital, when it would have been quite possible to have obtained tho services of one of the local medical men engaged in general practice. It was staled at the meeting that Dr. Valintine had been instrumental in having tho hospital erected at Taihape, but even sinco its erection, he had had somd thing to complain of in connection with it. The letter was received.
