* —— . CONCERNING A PAPAL BULL. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrißht London, April 16. ' The ;Most Rev. Arnold MatfteV (Earl of Landaff), head of the Old Roman Catholic Church in Great Britain and Ireland, sued "The Times" for libel in publishing a translation of a Papal Bull ex-com-lmmicatin'g Archbishop Mathew, in which the words "wicked' crime"- were used in reference to tho Archbishop's consecration of .a clergyman. , The verdict was for defendant, but the jury depreoated the publication in England of Bulls affecting the status,'of individuals. [The Papal Bull excommunicating Dr. Mathew, also'the Rev. Herbert Beale and the Rev. A. W. Howarth, was issued in' February, 1911. The two latter were excommunicated because they had been consecrated bishops by Dr. Mathew, who was excommunicated for performing the ceremony. At the time Dr. Mathew expressed surprise, as he had not been subject to the Pope since 1889.]
