'April 17, 11.30 p.m.) London, April 17. • The friends of Mr. Joseph Martin, the American ,who has mysteriously disappeared, are of opinion that Martin was made an involuntary prisoner in South London after being the victim of robbery with violence. 5 ' A statement which may. throw some light on the disappearance of Mr. Martin has been made by Mr. W. Wiltshire. Mr. Wiltshire says he was bidding farewell to his daughter South African liner Walmer Castle on April 5, when a man in evening dress came aboard. Ho is convinced that the man was Martin. Mr. Wiltshire had previously spoken to a girl just from America, who said her expenseshad been paid by a friend whom she expected to meet on tho Walmer Castle. The girl did not know'what her destination was to be until she saw her friend.
