AT NANCY.
GERMAN MERCHANTS MOBBED. By Telegraph—Press Associatioh-Copyrlelil 1 Berlin, April 15. The iiewspapers indignantly point out that six German merchants were mobbed at tho railway station at Nancy, Prance, and insulted and attacked with sticks and fists, being afterwards imprisoned in a waiting room. The crowd apparently mistook them for disguised Prussian officers. Germans had previously "boohed" a. burlesque of the German Army at a local theatre. The newspapers complain that French officers were present at the station, but did not interfere to restrain the violence of the mob, REDRESS ASKED FOR, Berlin, April 15. Thcro is growing irritation regarding the Nancy affair. Government representations have been made to France for redress, and the lat'cl' has promised an explanation. Meanwhile, it assumes tho reports, are exaggerated. The newspaper "Lokal Anzeiger" says: -If discourtesy to Germans continue, wo shall bo obliged to take measures to ensure respect." Ogier, Councillor of State, to inquire into the Nancy incident. , "Le Temps" considers the affair of a negligible nature, apart from the use tho German Press is making of the incident.
