INSPECTING OTAGO LINES. (By Tcleiraph.—Press Association.) Dunediii, April 10. The Eon. W. H. Henies, Minister for Railways, who is at'present making a tour of tho South Island lines, left Dimedin by special train this morning. ,Ha passed through Hosgiel and went up tho Outram branch line, whero ho met several deputations, and .returned to Mosgiel. Tho matter of a station was there brought before him. The Minister said that nothing could bo dono regarding an overbridge till tho que'stion of ehii'tiug tho station wsa settled one way or another. Tho Minister proceeded on to Lawrence, where a luncheon was riven. Ho afterwards proceeded to the Big Hill tunnel. Ho was immcnisely pleased with tho country which he passed through, aiul said that ho agreed that everything: must bo done to develop it. .Continuing, ho said that he would endeavour to meet till complaints wherever lie found them just, and assured his hearers that, so far as the expenditure on tho railways was concerned, it would bo made without fear or favour ia tho endeavour, to assist tho settlers in tho back-blocks before tliosa moro favourably situated. The Minister returned to Milton in the evening, and was entertained at a srnoko concert.
