Dannevirko, April IG. ■About 100 Territorials from the Oringi camp visited Dannevirko last night on leave, 'l'ho impression they, crcated was a very unfavourable one. They were some of the men who had failed to attend tho stipulated number of drills during' tho year, and aro puttiug in four extra days' drill., Their conduct in tho streets early in the evening was disgraceful. Shops were invaded in searcli of cigarettes, and uniformed youths paraded tho streets us. noisy as drunken roysterors. "Women and girls were the objects of coarse remarks, and tho pandemonium caused was heard half a mile away. Two of tho men, eating raw smoked fish, invaded au hotel and asked for brandies and sodas, but were refused. Going baclc to camp by tho 8.30 train, disgraceful proceedings took place. Several carriage windows were broken. Many of the youths were under the influenco of drink. Many arrests are reported to liavo been made when the men returned to camp. Palmerston N,, April 16. In reference to the Dannevirko telegram relating to the misdemeanour of a number of Territorials on leave from the Oringi camp, tho "Manawdtu Daily Times" has received a statement from tho officer in. charge of the camp that the regrettable iucident had been attended to, and would not occur again. Ho wished this fact to bo known.
