LEVIN FARMERS' UNION.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Levin Branch -of the New Zealand 1 Farmers' Union was held on Saturday, Mr. W. H. Becher presiding. Tho annual roport showed ail increase in membership of 79 aiid the ljfilance-sheet showed a credit of ',£55 13s. 2d. Tlie election of officers for tho ensuing year resulted in Messrs. W. A. Becher (president) and John Kebbell (vice-pre-sident) being re-elected; also the hon. secretary (Mi. H. J. Richards) and the auditor (Mr. R. D. Wallace). A committee was elected, consisting of Messrs. Davies (2), Olsen, Stewart (2), Eli Allen, David Mickell. L. V. Kay, S. A. Broadbelt. E.' M. Herrick, W- Perry, and B. Mextcd. The meeting decided to vote teii guineas to the Dominion Organising Fund. On the motion of Mr. Kebbell, seconded by Mr. John Davies, the branch de- • cided to>ondorse the Woodvillo Borough Council's proposals regarding taxation of motors, and to make this resolution a remit to the provincial council. Tho following recommendations of the committee were adopted by the bvnncli and placed on tho order paper regarding remits for tho conference:— "That this branch is in favour of tho establishment, of a Board of Agriculture for the control of our State Farms, such board to liavo the assistance of committees of local farmers to advise in matters of detail." ■, "This branch is of the opinion that in cases of disagreement as to value the Government should be compelled to take over all land at the Government valuation or reduce to the owners' value." The branch endorsed tho proposal of the secretary for Agriculture regarding the disposal of stud stock (by ballot instead of auction); price to bo fixed by the Department on a basis of actual cost.
