The Bench was occupied by- tlio Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), llr. Justice Denmstou, Mr. Justice Edwards, Mr. Justice Cooper, and.Mr. Justice Chapman. . . arose in a claim for possession, which caino on for hearing in tho Supremo Court last November, and which \vas removed into tho Court of Appchl for argument by order of the Chief Justice. Tho plaintiff in the action was tho Lower Hutt Corporation, and tho defendants were Edmoml -Hayes, retired builder, Patrick Casejt, retired publican, and Prank Jleyrick, baker, all of Lower Hutt. Mr. C. H.. l'rpadwell apopared for the corporation, while Mr. T. 1". Martin appeared for tlio defendants. Particulars of the action were published in yesterday's issue. Another case— tho Lower Hutt Borough Council v. Miriama Heketa—involved similar points, and it was agreed that j both actions should be heard together. Mr. Martin, Who addressed the Court first, concluded his argument shortly after midday yesterday. The Court then announced that it : would consider tho matter before deciding whether or not Mr.' Troadwell should-be colled on.
