BAND CONTEST.

(By relegraph—Press Association.] Invercargill, April 14. In connection with tho Invercargill band contest, the following bands have notified that tliey will compete:—Lyttelton Marine, Blenheim, Tenth Regimental, Napier City, St. Kilda, Gore, Ashburton Temperance, Winton, and three Inyercargill bands, while others havo not replied yet. At a meeting of the committee tonight, it was decided to proceed with the contest, and to approach the South Island Bands Association to procure music. It was also decided to ask the secretary of the association to make arrangements that the quickstep music should be an own choice selection. Lieutenant Wade, of Wanganui, was recommended to the association as adjudicator.
