Stevenson and Cook (Port Chalmers), steamer IGOft, W, b :> r .?,' fl v and Oft. Gin. depth | fitted with ladies' saloon, purser's office Ealoon, forced draught, navy type of boilers (working up to 1801b, per squart ' inoh); price, ,£20,000, delivered in Vol' lmgton. Charles Bailev, jun. (Auckland), stated that ho had just built; lor the Devonport Ferry Company a passengef steamer 120 ft. long by 26ft. beam by Gftv 9in. deep, at a cost of .£II,OOO. He re-* quired further information as to building a steamer similar to tho Col>ar. The council decided to leave the: whole matter and correspondence for the incoming council, as this was tho last meeting ol the current term. The letters from builders and others offering steameitf w§ro ordered to be acknowledged.
